Dating for Two

in Great Dads

The local paper features an “Ask Amy” advice column.  Today’s question was from a divorced dad asking how to get back into the dating scene.  What impressed me was that the dad recognized that he can’t ignore the needs of his child to pursue companionship.  The last couple lines of his letter says, “Where does a guy look for an honest, intelligent and stable woman? No drama, because I’m dating for two now.”

I’ve not been in that situation but Amy’s response rings very true to me.  She said, “when you are a single parent, your child’s interests are interwoven with your own.”  Kudos to a great dad for recognizing this.
